Acer seems to be fighting very hard for its share in the mobile phone market. F900 is one of the novelties from Acer Tempo Smartphone Series – its first attempt to establish itself in the Smartphone faculty. Is it a make or break for Acer’s Smartphone debut? We’ll find out.
Within the box are the F900 phone, the additional stylus, a battery, a charger, a data cable, a handsfree set and a user’s guide.
The gadget has a 3.8” monitor which is among the most humongous in a handset we have seen. It resembles HTC Touch HD who looks a bit like LG GC900 Viewty Smart. Let’s admit it, there isn’t a lot of room for phones with a bigger-than-3-inch screen to be different. Only two keys remain on the front plain – the windows key and the back key. The geometric design is simplistic enough to my liking and with thickness of 12.9mm, it does look compactly smart.
The power button is relocated on the left side of the phone (which I think is a bit unnecessary coz the only thing that the repositioning achieves is to make the lefthander feel bad.)
On the right side you see the MicroSD slot and the volume control.
You have got a speaker here on top juxtaposed with the letters GPS. (a GPS speakerphone!?)
The plastic case at the back is not so much my cup of tea. It reminds me of a geeky computing device from Cold War era more than a chic communicating handset to date. The 3.2 megapixel camera is a bit below par. (It’s not supposed to be a hipster phone perhaps)
You have to click the red safety lock to release the battery and put the lid back on.
F900 is operating on Windows Mobile 6.1 professional and a 533 MHz processor. It is a guarantee of stability and speed.
Google Maps application is on board with the latest Google latitude.

Acer F900 has found its niche in putting forward a smart phone within such a comparatively low price range. It’s functional: Windows Mobile 6.1 providing a smooth operation, WiFi, GPS and HSDPA connectivity, 3.8 inch display that shows exhilarating images. Nothing too flashy and gimmicky.
