Canon has launched its EOS 550D with upgraded features of 18MP and Full HD video with manual exposure. The advanced features will guarantee superb image quality with fine details.
The bundle includes the EOS 550D digital camera, an LP-E8 Battery Pack, an MH-18a battery charger, an LC-E8 Data Cable (USB), an AVC-DC400ST AV Cable, an EW-100DBIII Strap, a CD-ROM, a User's Guide and an eyecup Ef.
At a first glance, Canon EOS 550D has the same size as 500 D , yet its weight is slightly heavier (530g compared to 500D’s 480g). Still, it is a pretty handy DSLR for female photographers. EOS 550D features an 18MP APS-C sized CMOS sensor which strengthens the light gathering capacity and reduces noises. It contains 4-channel output to achieve fast transfer of image data. Also, it allows Full HD (1920x1080) movie shooting at 30fps.
The 3-inch 3:2 aspect ratio LCD monitor contains 1,040,000-dot. It enhances Live View shooting and movie playback.

Apart from the auto pop-up flash light, 550D offers flexible ISO ranging from 100 to 6400 (although the image quality will be compromised). You can also use the f/1.8 large aperture when shooting for high depth of field portraits. Shooting in various lighting situations is not a problem.
If you find the build-in monaural microphone is not enough for audio recording, use the external stereo microphone terminal to connect with other microphones.
As an entry-level digital SLR camera, EOS 550D is really sufficient. It offers the 18MP CMOS sensor which enhances Full HD Movie recording. Yet, memory space could be a problem. You can use the SD/SDHC/SDXC card to expand memory capacity. Compare to 500 D , 550D is more advanced in mega-pixels, ISO, Live view, monitor size and the extra stereo microphone terminal etc. So if you are looking for an entry-level DSLR, you may explore 550D with a new level of creativity in photography.
