O2 Asia is gone. It becomes MWg (Mobile and Wireless Group). The short form is kind of hard to remember, but the complete name makes sense. Recently MWg launched the first phone, the MWg Atom V. Comparing to the very successful Atom life, the newer version looks like a complete different person.

The package included a phone, a battery, a charger with multi-plugs for world travel, two styluses, a hands free, a USB cable, CD and manual. This testing unit also included a 1GB MicroSD.


The design of the phone is actually very nice. A deep blue colour with chrome trims presented a professional smart image. The Atom V is also one of the thinnest Pocket PC with only 14.95mm in thickness.


At the back of the Atom V, there is a 2 mega pixel camera with flash light. Well, not as strong as a Xenon of course.

USB is located at the bottom as most PDA phones. However the front buttons are a bit too thin to use.


Large 2.8 inches touchscreen.

Atom V is using a PXA270 520Mhz CPU with 64M RAM and 256M ROM running on Windows Mobile 6 Professional.


Atom V is using the SiRF StarIII GPS but map is not included. You have to buy or download your own.


At the end, the phone is actually a bit large but luckily thin. Very different to the small but thick Atom Life. Also all of the old O2 software are gone and replaced by a MWg quick menu system, which is quite similar to the HTC Touch interface. Somehow I have difficulties in getting the quick menu out for photo shooting. If I got the chance, I will try to get it in picture.
